Welcome to Black Cat Lover!

Welcome to the New Website – Black Cat Lover

Hello and welcome to my new website that I launched.  I am a huge lover of black cats. I have owned cats all of my life of many different colors and types.  My first cat we owned when I was a young girl was an orange cat.  My mother rescued the cat after her parents farm had a fire and all of the farm cats scattered except one which was hanging around, so Mom rescued it and in the car ride home, it was discovered that my father was allergic to cats.  He never owned a cat before, so he had no idea, but in the car ride home, he started sneezing and his eyes turned red and started watering.  My Dad made a comment about the cat being “like a plague” because of his allergy symptoms he was having.  Being a young girl, around three years of age, I said “That’s his new name – Plague!” I was 3 years old. I had no idea what plague was or what my father was talking about. I just know he referred to the cat as being “plague” and so that was the cat’s name.  We had Plague for over 15 years before he passed away.  Even though my late father was allergic, he learned to love cats and just put up with his allergies throughout my childhood.  My entire family are all animal lovers.

Presently, we have Midnight.  She was born in the house we currently live.  My mother was the Midwife during the birth.  My parents had Oreo who was a black and white tuxedo cat and Oreo was a stray that came into my parents yard and adopted them.  When it became apparent that Oreo was going to be a part of the family, my mother took Oreo to the vet to be spayed.  She was told by the vet, “Oh she has some scaring down there, so she is already spade”.  Well, a few months later there was ten pieces of evidence to the contrary.  Midnight was one of those “pieces of evidence”.

I have been a huge advocate of cats my entire life and with having been owned by Midnight who is now 11 years old , I have become in love with black cats, because they are so gorgeous and sleek and sweet.  With all of the stereotype surrounding black cats, I had to design a website that helps to dispel all of those ancient old myths about black cats and give the reader some facts, thus encourage people to go to their shelter and adopt a black cat, because I guarantee they will never regret that decision.

So, please feel free to stay connected and bookmark this website, because I will be developing regular posts and updates to this website. You may also sign up for the Black Cat Newsletter. I am very excited for this new website as it launches around the same time as the new year begins.  So happy 2017 everyone and please give your cat(s) a kitty cuddle for me.

Sincerely,

Stephanie
